Dutch Kuykendall, aged 83, passed away on May 4, 2022 in the comfort of his home.

He was born on August 5, 1938 in Elmhurst, Illinois to his parents Earl L. Kuykendall, Sr. and Margaret Tharp. In 1951, they moved to southern California where Dutch spent his teenage years. In 1957, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, and served for 23 years including a tour in Vietnam in 1969-1970. After retiring from the US Air Force, he moved to Poulsbo, WA and went on to have a civilian career from 1980-2004 as a maintenance specialist for Bangor Naval Base. In 2014, he moved to Austin, Texas to be closer to his children and grandchildren.

From 1958-1978 he was married to Rose L. Schiermeyer. They had three daughters: Margo, Linda, and Kim.

From 1979-1991 he was married to Chang Ho Kim. They had one daughter, Ann.

Dutch loved backpacking, hiking, and traveling and made many memorable trips with his family to National Parks and historic places across the United States. He also loved hunting elk in the mountains with his friends.

He is survived by his daughters Margo Kuykendall, Linda Mele, and Ann de Vries; his siblings Sharon Kuykendall, Phillip Kuykendall (m. Maryann), David Kuykendall (p. David Garcia), Barbara Volk (p. George Margetts); nine grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

Dutch was preceded in death by his father and mother, and his daughter, Kim Holmes.
