South Austin Location

Christopher Amaro, age 65, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 in Manor, Texas. His parents, Cruz R. Amaro and Pauline H. Amaro preceded him in death. Chris lived in Iago, Texas, until his Sophomore year in high school when he moved to California. He attended and graduated from Rowland Heights High School. While there he excelled in athletics, lettering in Track. Moving back to Texas, Chris worked his way through college by working construction and for Motorola for extended periods of time. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Southwest Texas State University at San Marcos, Texas in August of 1986. Chris continued his running activities through-out his changes in work and locales.
Chris began his working career in Nevada where he worked for a contractor for the United States Department of Energy. He then moved back to Texas where he was employed by the Texas Department of Health Services, Radiation Control Program since January, 2000.
Chris had two passions in life, running and dogs. He was an avid marathon runner since high school and participated in various "contests" wherever he happened to be. With his beloved dogs at his side, Chris jogged and ran many miles around Pflugerville Lake. He continued running until his last day. He had a bucket list and was able to cross-off zip lining, skydiving and travel to Japan.
Chris lived a simple life, was a quiet man with a quirky sense of humor and made time in his life for all his family. At any special family event Chris was there to help whether in person or by phone. His absence will be profoundly felt.
Chris is survived by three sisters; Faustina Amaro, Gloria A. Mann (Charly) and Mary Ann Peck, and two brothers; Cruz Amaro, Jr. (Vivian) and Arnold Amaro, along with many nieces and nephews.
Burial services are pending.
As Chris was an animal enthusiast, the family requests donations to your local animal shelter in lieu of flowers.
